CIVIC: The Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict: Nonprofit organization founded by the passionate humanitarian Marla Ruzicka, who was killed in Baghdad in 2005 while advocating for the families of Iraqi civilians injured and killed in the crossfire. CIVIC has helped to create and fund legislation for war victims in Afghanistan and Iraq, to obtain urgently needed medical care, and to shine a spotlight on the devastating effects of war on innocent lives.
Doctors Without Borders: Sales of Phyllis's Friends CD directly support this independent medical organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries.
Homeless Families Foundation: Family shelter in Columbus, Ohio, directly supported by sales of The Emptiness of Our Hands. Provides shelter and support services for homeless families and an extensive tutoring and enrichment program for homeless and at-risk school age children.
