My family has just returned from a long camping vacation around Lake Superior. Our first time there.
My goodness, “lake” is too small a word for the great inland sea that the Ojibwe nation calls Gichigami. If Gichigami were poured out upon North and South America, it would cover the entire landmass with two feet of water.
Gichigami is deeper than the Statue of Liberty is tall. Beyond its shallows, it’s so frigid in summer that your body can no longer swim after five or ten minutes of exposure.
The risk of capsizing in the mighty Gichigami at didn’t stop the three of us from kayaking among the sea caves along the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. We’re always ready for an adventure—how about you?

In that same playful and adventurous spirit, I’m launching an experiment on Monday, July 26th, called The Daily Boost. Each Boost will be one paragraph long, or less. Emailed every weekday, it will feature a single inspiring idea or resource about compassion, creativity, or other things I’m into.
The Daily Boost will be totally free. I’m excited to try it, delivering even more “staying power” to you, if you want it.
To be clear, The Daily Boost will not replace either Staying Power or SP Plus. Those will continue as before.
Did I mention the Boost is free?
Sign up before August 1 for a chance to win one of my “Deep Peace” mugs.
