You ever gone through a long stretch where major responsibilities were pulling you in several directions at once? When all you could do was breathe and keep going, trusting that you’d get to the end of it?

Well, I’m happy to say, I’m just about to emerge from such a stretch. Whew.

Even during periods of near-overwhelm, I have to make something or I start to go nuts. Doesn’t have to be anything big.

This week I scratched my creative itch by writing the lyrics to a tune I composed a while back.

This song isn’t a good fit for my vocal range, as you’ll hear in the recording, but I’m giving it to you anyway, with a hug and a grin, because I know you don’t expect “perfect.” (Right?)

“This Moment” is a blessing for you. Right here, right now. Whatever stretch you’re in.

THIS MOMENT

A song by Phyllis Cole-Dai

Let your life come to you
like light comes to a flower.
Let your care fall everywhere
like spring falls in a shower.
Let your love move freely
like wind moves through the grass.
Let your peace be made now
before this moment’s past.

Shape your soul upon the wheel
like a potter shapes the clay,
gently turning, bringing forth
what wasn’t there yesterday.

Let your hope sustain you
like bread sustains the weak.
Let your faith see all things well
as from a mountain peak.
Let your truth rise through you
like water in a well.
Let your peace be made now
in this moment where you dwell.

Load your life with color
like a painter loads the brush.
Paint your spirit on this world
with a bold yet tender touch.

Lend your voice to words that heal
like a singer to the song.
Sing out loud, with all your strength,
don’t fear you’ll get it wrong.

Let your hands be empty
like a bell about to sound.
Let your heart be ready
like seed on fertile ground.
Let your mind be open
like arms that open wide.
Let your peace be made now—
bless this moment with your light.
Bless this moment of your life.
